Iranian short ‘Parallel Parking’ to vie at Nigerian fest

Iranian ‘Parallel Parking’ is to compete at the Women Int’l Film Festival Nigeria.

Iranian short flick ‘Parallel Parking’ has been selected to compete at the first edition of the Women International Film Festival Nigeria (WIFFEN).

Directed by Darya Azari, the short film is about a mother-son relationship.

“A young boy embarrassed by his mother insists she drops him off near his school. One day, after circling the block several times, the mother is forced to pick her son up in front of the school. As she tries to smooth things over, the son learns an important lesson about love,” a synopsis to ‘Parallel Parking’ reads.

The short film’s cast list includes Nasim Kiani, Arsham Shojaee, and Alborz Karoubeh.

‘Parallel Parking’ has previously participated in the Ojai Film Festival in the US.

According to the official website of the WIFFEN, “the goal is to celebrate women in film around the world. The festival was birthed out of the desire to build a community of female filmmakers supporting and empowering one another to grow and thrive in the global film industry”.

The 2022 edition of the event will be held on March 4-5.
